K. Francis Lee
M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Lee is an established general and laparoscopic surgeon in Western Massachusetts. He has been practicing in the Greater Springfield area for over thirteen years. As a member of Hampden County Physician Associates, he has developed the Skin and Vein Care Center in response to popular demand from area patients and referring physicians.
He received his undergraduate education from Stanford University, Palo Alto, California; his medical education from Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts; and his postgraduate training from Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina, and Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, Richmond, Virginia.
Dr. Lee's great interest and expertise in skin and vein conditions developed over the past 21 years since graduating from medical school. His experience grew out of his active surgical practice in general surgery, emergency surgery, and palliative (end-of-life) care. Dr. Lee has over 50 peer-reviewed journal publications, two books in surgical resident education, and a number of review articles and chapters in text books.
He has certification and recertification from the American Board of Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in good standing and a number of other professional societies. He serves on a number of national task forces and committees in the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. He has served as the Chief of Trauma Services in the past at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Massachusetts, which received its verification as a Level I Trauma Center during his tenure in 1996. He has received a number of awards and grants, including the W. K. Kellogg Foundation National Fellowship, recognized for his mid-career professional achievements and leadership.
